Mark Edison de Reus

With a career spanning over four decades, Mark de Reus engages his intimate knowledge of architectural traditions with a deep respect for nature and place. His highly personalized approach results in an individual expression crafted for each project and client.
Mark has designed a vast array of projects worldwide, including high-end residences, luxury resorts, spas, retail establishments, and wineries. Having started his career in building as a craftsman, he brings his expertise in the handmade to each stage of the design process.
Born and raised in Idaho, Mark’s career has taken him halfway across the world and back. He held leadership roles at notable practices in Jakarta, Hawai’i, and San Francisco before founding de Reus Architects in 2005. In 2012 de Reus opened a second office in Sun Valley, where he could live in a place that offered the skiing and fishing he grew up with.
Mark is the author of “Tropical Experience: Architecture + Design” (2011) and “Sanctuary: Homes and Resorts” (2023). He has been recognized by publications including the New York Times, Architectural Digest, and Tatler Asia. In 2010, he was honored on Architectural Digest’s AD100.
